Another sequel coming this spring, Bones studio (Fullmetal Alchemist, Darker than Black, Soul Eater) brings us the next installment of My Hero Academia. This superhero action series first aired in the spring of 2016 with a colorful cast, tons of great action, and a kind hearted and lovable young protagonist. We can’t wait to see more of Izuku Midoriya when season 2 begins on April 1st.
Izuku has dreamt of being a hero all his life—a lofty goal for anyone, but especially challenging for a kid with no superpowers. That’s right, in a world where eighty percent of the population has some kind of super-powered “quirk,” Izuku was unlucky enough to be born completely normal. But that’s not going to stop him from enrolling in one of the world’s most prestigious hero academies. Now, the only thing standing between him and his first class is the academy’s formidable entrance exam—nothing a little private tutoring from the world’s mightiest hero can’t solve. Clockwork Planet is a new series based on a light novel, in which an automaton from a mysterious black box changes the life of a high school dropout. The clockwork design of this show is absolutely stunning, and the premise seems promising for a good sci-fi shounen series this spring. Clockwork Planet will begin airing on April 7th.
Everyone on the Clockwork Planet considers Naoto Miura a machinery nut. Every moment of every day, he has his mind on gears and his hands tinkering with delicate mechanical motors, but nobody understands how he can hear and feel gears in operation, even from a long distance away. Then one day, a clockwork maiden falls from the sky, presaging events that would shake the whole world… (Source: Baka-Updates Manga)
Based on the manga of the same name, Alice & Zouroku is a fantasy/supernatural seinen series brought to you by J.C. Staff (Toradora!, Maid Sama!, The Pet Girl of Sakurasou). The character designs are appealing, and the relationship between the two main characters looks absolutely heartwarming. Here’s looking forward to all the best kinds of feels with Alice & Zouroku, which begins airing on April 2nd.
A group of young girls possess a mysterious power known as “Alice’s Dream,” which gives them the ability to turn their thoughts into reality. Detained and experimented upon, these youths are locked away in secret until one of them manages to escape. Her name is Sana—a girl with the power to ignore the very laws of physics. When this willful powerhouse crosses paths with a stubborn old man named Zouroku, his carefully-ordered life will never be the same again. (Source: manga synopsis via Anime News Network)
This comedy slice of life is my top pick for a light, cute anime this spring! The chibi art style is captivating with a bright art direction, and an adorable protagonist who just happens to attract animals to her. With the heart-wrenchingly cute Interviews with Monster Girls ending this winter, I’m looking forward to picking this up as my new relaxing slice of life show.
Hinako is a shy little girl whom animals are instinctively drawn to. Because of this, Hinako works as a scarecrow to keep said animals away from the crops in her neighbors fields. Thus the tale of the scarecrow girl begins! (Source: MyAnimeList)
